Malaysia National Day

I commented on Fatin Shahar's blog on Why Merdeka cannot be considered as Festival. My comment did not show up because:

I hope my comment will be read by others. It will help in clarifying my answer to the above question. To make a claim that Merdeka or National Day is indeed a festival, I need to see her research and check her references on how she substantiates this claim.

In my comment to her, I clarified that I have often seen or read that the National Day stated as a Celebration. The validity of the assumption on Malaysia National Day is part of the Malaysian's festival comes from Malaysia National Day:
"Malaysia's National Day is one of the popular festivals of Kuala Lumpur. It is celebrated as a national holiday on the 31st day of August."

My intention is to help students to be aware of conducting proper research and get reliable sources in order to make a valid claim. I believe in allowing my student to challenge my view. I would like to see more references on 'Merdeka Festival' or Malaysia National Day Festival like the Dubai National Day Festival.
